This non-destructive technique allows to investigate the internal structure of objects and in the case of ceramics, it permits to analyse the characteristics of the clay paste and the manufacturing techniques.
The results have been excellent and perhaps it will be possible to carry out a second round of scans, thus increasing the samples compared to what was budgeted at the beginning of the project.
The scans were performed at the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris. I’m really grateful to the staff of the AST-RX platform and in particular to Marta Bellato and Patricia Wils, and to Christine Lorre (senior curator of the MAN).
